civic maintanence minder

should i wait for the 30K civic maintanence minder to come up, or at 30% oil should I just get the usual stuff done. with the maintainece minder it might give dealer a chance to charge more.

Re: civic maintanence minder

30k is just a few basic fluid changes like trans, brake, and maybe oil if you need it. coolant you can wait few more yrs.

Re: civic maintanence minder

I would think at 30k it would be oil/filter, ATF drain and refill, air and cabin filters. Do the air & cabin filters yourself they charge much more than it is worth. You should set your own schedule and ignore the minder.

Re: civic maintanence minder

By the time I get home it gets dark, will check the fluid levels tomorrow and post it. Doing this by myself the first time, so kind of jumping here and there, actually am quite sick of shelfing out money to the dealer.
And my wife drives the car around 60+ miles every day, so want to recheck everything too and she refuses to open the bonet, I mean literally refuses

(will sound dumb ) looks like cabin air filter and engine air filter are diff.
The cabin air (a/c) filter is located behind the glove box, got a DIY for that. Will just vaccum the one that the car has one currently for now.
Where is the engine air filter and is there a DIY for its replacement. thnx

Re: civic maintanence minder

You will want to replace that cabin filter(s) once you see how it looks when you remove it.

The air filter should be easily done also, my 05 has 6-8 screws holding the cover yours should be very similar.

Re: civic maintanence minder

air filter is held by 5-6 clips(can't remember exactly) on 8th gen SI....i replaced mine at 10K with K&N...just pollens no dirt...

ATF or MTF is a must...

Re: civic maintanence minder

holy crap!! The transmission fluid is black and level is loo. Its the yellow dipstick. And the engine oil is as brown as it can get. All other fluids look fine and full. Engine coolant was too much in front to check and it was raining.
I have to change the transmission and engine fluid immediately!!!!

Re: civic maintanence minder

I would not get the flush, only a drain and refill with only Honda OEM fluid.

I have always done mine at 25k but 30k should be fine.
