2008 ex-l 2dr catalytic converter question

FIRST OFF LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF, I'M NEW TO THE FORUMS AND TO THE CIVIC. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A CRASHED 2008 2DR. EX-L WITH 4000k MILES AND I AM FIXING IT UP. MY QUESTION IS I NEED TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. BUT HONDA WANTS $580. I WANTED TO KNOW IF I CAN GO WITHOUT IT? I WILL BE KEEPING THE STOCK MUFFLER, AND DON'T WANT A LOUD EXHAUST, WILL THIS BE POSSIBLE? AND IF SO WHERE I COULD GET WHAT I NEED. I LIVE IN FLORIDA, AND WE DON'T HAVE EMMISSION TESTING SO THE MISSING CAT WON'T BE A PROBLEM. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP. JUSTIN

I don't know what city you live in but here in Los Angeles we have a "Honda Only Junk Yard" here is there web site. I'm sure they'll mail one to you. I think you can drive the car with out the converter, but think about good old mother earth.

Is there some sort of emissions warranty for 8th gens? 7th gens have something like an 80000 mile warranty on that stuff.

weapon r makes a new exhaust manifold (which is where is where your cat is and o2 sensor )
go to weapon-r.com or just google weapon r exhaust's
you will retain back pressure and get better exhaust gas release flow.
Add an intake and you will possible gain about 8 to 10 hp
it is dynoed with just the exhause manifold showing a gain of about 6 hp
hope this helps ,
it is better than stock and only slightly louder
but better for fuel mileage
