Rep Power: 0 HELP shift lever boot & brake lite switch
I have a 5 speed manual trans and would like to replace my gear shift ****. The lever schematic shows 2 prongs extending from the stock **** under the top ring of the shift lever boot to prevent the boot from sliding down the shaft. The first question, can I squeeze the ring on the boot enough to pry the boot ring down over the 2 prongs or do I have to take the console a part to be able to get to the shift lever back side of the stock ****?
2nd question: I need to adjust the brake lite switch, it appears that you have to pry out a locking ring that passes thru the bracket into a plastic retainer, before you can twist the switch assembly to be able to remove or adjust it. But here again it appears that you must push inward? or pull outboard? two tabs in slots on the back side of the retainer to be able to free the lock ring. I tried using a small screw drive in the slot, but really do not want to break the plastic retainer. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to release the retainer on the brake lite switch.
Thanks Dave
