Hey rick93, i'm kinda new too. Just make sure you browse the previous threads before you make a new post. There is a hell of alot of info on this site that describes the function and advantages of putting in a cold air intake.

Re: Cool air intake

Cold Air Intake (CAI) sucks more air into ur engine than your stock air filter, its easy to install and some of them dont even affect your warranty, it adds a few more horsepower, gives you better gas mileage, and helps with acceleration

Keep your money its not worth it. + they may say it won't void your warrenty but do you want to assume that risk... Save your 200 bucks you'll pay and put it towards gas, with only that your increases will be minimal. with some sort of tune, new exhaust, ign pack then yea but for just the cai.... save ur cash

Re: Cool air intake

yeah a cai without full exhuast is useless, maybe gives you a little bit more noise during acceleration but thats all.
you can save some money and just buy a K&N filter, get the same effect as a cai without losing $200+

i agree!!

First thing i installed on my 06 civic was the CAI.....not much but definetly noise!

next was 2.25" exhaust & axleback....improved but it wasnt till i added the last piece, which was the 2.5" downpipe where i felt the car move pretty good. You need the plumbing to be all in accordance to be effective.

Think of it as a straw....
Try and suck through a tiny one....tough eh'
Now a big straw, much easier right? yup!

now with the theory of only CAI would be to have a tiny straw and big straw together....suck through that and you still get the same effect as having only the small one in the first place.
