new civic hybrid owner here with a couple questions

I bought a 2006 civic hybrid yesterday. Are there any tips on getting the most out of my gas mileage? I traded in a 12 second quarter mile SRT-4 for the hybrid and I'm still getting used to the feel of the pedal and reduced quickness. Do the civic and civic hybrid use the same air filter? Any other useful things to know would be appreciated. This is the first non-dodge car I've owned.

Re: new civic hybrid owner here with a couple questions

Everyone I know with one (3 people now, all with 2007's) say you need to drive like a 92 year old great grandmother who's ambition is to live forever to max the mileage. The slowest and gentlest of accelerations, and watch well ahead for lights so you can get off the gas as early as possible for stops. Also, do not cruise even 1 mph over the posted speed limit on highways and at all costs keep the rpm's below 3000 (preferable, below 2000).

Of course, that's to max out mileage - you should still get pretty good mileage driving more like a normal person.

The accleration thing is true for any car really though. Even in my non-hybrid 2007 EX sedan, I see a difference between weekly commuting if I just am diligent to always ease up a bit on the pedal when coming off a full stop.
