throttle sticking

I have a new 07 civic with only 2800 KM and today the throttle wants to fight with the brakes. I came close to rear-ending a dozen cars on the way home from work today.

What is happening is when I try to come to a stop it seems the engine wants to continue reving at about 2200 RPM's for about 5 seconds and then it will drop down to idle. Other times I just have to give the gas a quick snap to get the engine back to idle.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I understand the civic is now drive by throttle; since there is no cable what is causing the engine to rev. I am going to have the car towed to the dealer since I find this problem unsafe for driving.

Re: throttle sticking

does it do it when you are in neutral? you could try lubing the little half-moon thing your throttle is hooked up to on the engine side.

Re: throttle sticking

Take it to the dealer. Sounds like DBW, might need to be reflashed.

Re: throttle sticking

I've got news for u. ALL the new civics do this. they hold their RPMs for a few seconds when shifting gears. I believe someone said u can take this in, and they'll fix it.

This has been happening to my 2008 Civic also in automatic. I contacted Honda of North America. They send a corporate lawyer and had a local dealership check my car out and found nothing wrong. They suggested I was making it up. It happened to me earlier and I have two witnesses and have it on video.
