painted brakes

I thought it'd be cool to paint my brakes on my 07si.(white). I was thinking red. whatcha alll think? Also, is this something hard to do. Im not very car savvy, and was hoping it was something as simple as pulling the tire, adn whipping out the old touch up brush from the craft store.

am I over simplyfying it?

help

Re: painted brakes

You don't want to paint the brakes (I'm guessing you knew that). You can paint the calipers, just tape up newspaper on everything you don't want painted and spray the caliper. Do the 2007s come with drums in the rear or discs all around? Calipers look good painted but not sure about drums.

Re: painted brakes

I guess I meant calipers. 07's have discs all around. Is there a special paint I have to use (high temp, etc.)?

Re: painted brakes

Yes. Use sandpaper to scuff them up a little before applying the paint, but not so heavy a grit that you can still see the grooves after the paint is on. And you will need a high temperature paint, those things get pretty hot.

Re: painted brakes

^No need to "sandpaper" the Calipers. Go to your local Auto Parts store and buy a Caliper paint kit. It comes with a cleaning spray and brush to apply the paint. I'd say go Red.
