Rep Power: 0 K&N or CAI?
Hey guys, first I wanna say I am so glad I found this forum. Tons of good info!
I am looking strictly at getting improved gas mileage. I have seen that the K&N air filter ($40ish) claims to add about 2mpg and modest horsepower gains. I have heard the same for the cold air intake ($200ish)... a couple miles per gallon and modest horsepower gains. I don't much care for the extra noise like from an aftermarket muffler, so if I was to get the CAI, it would be that only.
Is there anything I am missing? Does anyone have any "real life" experience with the K&N?
Thanks in advance

Rep Power: 0 most CAI perform the same with slight variences....if you want a little better perf. /mpg i say just get a cheap CAI off ebay....ive had two bomz racing cai on two diff. cars really liked them...and you can get one off ebay usually around $40....as long as you buy from selleres with a high feedback rate(positive) than you have nothing to worry about...ive been buying from ebay over 3 years and spent over $5000 and have never been screwed

If you are only after gas mileage then get the K & N replacement filter. It is true CAI gives you more power and mileage but in reality it does not work like that. Once you hear the wonderful noises a CAI makes when you stomp on it you will constantly find yourself being more agressive with gas. Besides...installing a CAI on the new civic is a bit of a pain. I have an AEM CAI and I love it, but when my girlfriend asked me to make her '06 civic go VROOM like mine, I keep coming up with excesses so I don;t have to do the install again.
