I could'nt find the original post but I want to thank whoever it was who said "don't take anything for granted when you pick up your new civic" (more or less). For the hell of it I checked the tire pressure today after owning my car for less than a week (300 Kms or 200 miles) and found all of them at about 38-39 PSI! Amazing that a new car would be delivered with tire pressures that much over the factory recommends.

Almost all dealerships over inflate the tires to give them a more round and beefy look.

The first thing I do when I pick up a new car is to pull over a block away and correct the tire pressure as over inflated tires are not safe.

Actually they did because they dont want the tires to flat spot sitting in one spot for so long.

It takes an awefully long time for a tire to get a flat spot by sitting. Trust me, my uncle (may he rest in peace) owned multiple car dealerships in CT and FL and they know people don't like to see low tires that look flat and or low. Customers like to see fully inflated tires, it makes the car look better and makes them feel better. At least this is what he did. I can't really say it's everywhere but alot of places do this.

Thx for the info! My last new car delivery was in Nov. 1996 so I don't keep much in practice picking up new cars. I have now retired the 96 Corolla and hopefully the Civic will wear as well.

Well They Dont Come Off The Line And Come Straight To The Dealer Most Cars Sit At The Factory For A Few Months Before Loading And Transfer To The Dealer, Its The Technicians Job Who Certifies The Car When We Get Them To Lower The Tire Pressure They Just Dont Always Do It.

Yea Technicians Get Paid For An Hour And A Half Of Work And Let Me Just Say My Techs Can Do 3 In 20 Minutes.
