Unhappy Interior Gauge Trim Kit

Hi all and Happy Memorial day!

As I was driving this morning i noticed that two areas of the (carbon fiber patterned) Interior Gauge Trim Kit were cracking
Not only did it begin to **** me off but it also brought a questions to mind.
Are there specific care instructions for these kits?
They are basically just plastic pieces that are stuck on with 3M tape to dres up the dash area.
They are subjected to direct sunlight so there should be something in them which'd protect them from cracking...or at least there should be.
I haven't used anything besides a microfiber cloth to dust off the dash, so I am baffled as to why it is cracking.
Anyone have any input on this that may be helpful?
I will be calling the dealer and setting up an appointment for a replacement to be installed.
No one has ever given me, nor have I ever heard of any specific care instructions for these types of kits and honestly I didn't think there were any.
Thanks for listening and have a great day everyone!

I am not sure why they would crack other than UV rays or something like that but sorry to hear about it.

Yes usually only heat can cause this. Do you leave it in the sun all day??

It's not in the sun all the time, but it has seen a few sunny/hot ones for sure.
Even so, it shouldn't crack at the onset of heat and sunshine.
I mean, you'd think that whoever invented the material used in these kits, would've taken sunshine and heat into consideration...they are after all kits that will most certainly be subjected to lots of heat and sunshine. They are made to cover the face of the dashboard/instrument panel, but do begin moving up to the upper areas of the dash as well. Excuse my attitude anteater, please don't think i'm attacking you here...I'm not, I'm just ticked off in general.
I called the dealership and was told to just swing by the service shop and make an appointment. They'll take care of it/repair it permenantly he said.
Maybe he just had to many coffees that morning or Honda may have come up with a solution for this prob. No idea but what I do know is that it'll be taken care of by them under warranty. I think now is a good time to invest in a windshield visor? I'll let you know what happens with it.
I've gotta take it to VT next week so it'll have to be after that but I won't forget to post the results of this.
A belated "Happy Memorial Day" to you all!

Yeah you are right, it should be a higher quality than that. You would expect it to be.. I mean its not a Hyundai right?

Yes windshield visors are good. I have one and its great for a hot day, protects the dash and also eliminates steering wheel burn!

I said I'd let you know...

and I'm a man of my word!
Though it has been a while since I've posted here, I did bring my car into the Honda dealers and they changed the carbon fiber dash trim kit.
Supposedly I wasn't the only person who's had this problem (cracking) and was told that the 3M co. had made a bad batch of these kits.
Whatever, as long as it's now fixed
They didn't give me any hastle about the replacement (as they shouldn't have) and I didn't give them any.
Anyhow, that's the deal
