06 ex stereo question

Would it be possible to add a whole new system (amps, subs, speakers/tweeters) without changing out the head unit? I like the look and natural feel of the head unit but I might want more boom in my audio later down the road.

Do you have an EX now? The 350 watt system and sub in the EX is really good in my opinion. I usually have my cars set to max bass. Not on this one. It thumps so hard everything in the car vibrates. Plus it get wicked loud. Especially with a CD.

Yeah it's definately pretty loud. In my coupe i have to wedge a thin piece of cardboard between the brake light and the rear window though because the sub makes a really annoying buzzing sound if I don't. I'm thinking when I get my free oil change from honda i'm gonna ask them to fix that. They're not gonna charge me for something like that right?

They should fix it for free. I thought the bass rattle came free of charge.

Any stereo shop should be able to help you out with this upgrade.... you'll just need a line level converter or an amp that has line level inputs (needed to convert the line level output of your stock head untit to a pre-out level). If there is a good stereo shop or installer in your area, they will know how to do this for you. Good Luck.

The real thing to remember about car stereos is that you whole system is only as good as the amp in the HU or extra amp.

Amp signal cleaniless is key to a good sounding stereo. You can all the great speakers in the world but if you have an amp that creates dirty signals as you raise the volume, the system won't sound great at high levels.

Question 06 Civic iPod question

When I bought my car, I was told that I'd be able to hook up my iPod to the MP3 jack, and would see the title of the song on the digital display, as well as be able to use the steering wheel controls for the iPod. I've tried this, and it doesn't work. Using the MP3 jack only allows me to play the iPod thru the stereo (but with no read-out or steering-wheel control options). I know that I can get the kit that plays it thru the FM frequencies, but that's still not the same thing.

Anyone have any info/suggestions? Thanks!

i think your probably just using the 3.5 mm jack, this is just like hooking up the earbuds. and as far as the FM frequencies you loose quality of the sound and you loose agian everything your were looking for. there is a interface addapter for i pods to be connected to certian decks that allow total controll over the HU. Eclipse sony kenwood. but i just did some looking and yes honda factory has it so just go to your dealer and tell them you looking for an ipod interface for the factory HU
