Rep Power: 0 touch up paint question
Hello,
I recently purchased a 2011 Honda civic EX. the color on the invoice is tango red. while driving to work on the turnpike, I stone hit the hood of my car and put 3 chips in the hood. I called that parts dept of the dealer where I bought my car since they had all of the information on the car to order the paint. the paint that I got was "bright red pearl".
I cleaned the area where the chips where and used the brush to apply the paint. the paint looks darker then the paint of the car.
I tried to find the paint code on the car but I could not find it and I could not find anywhere in the owners manual where they tell you where the paint code is located.
1st question: where is the paint code for the car located?
2nd question: is this the right color for the car?
I am not sure if I applied the paint correctly to the car. there is a pen applicator on the bottle but I cannot get it to work. it mentions a orange cap that has to be removed but I cannot find the orange cap.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

The detail guy says it's a lot like doing nail polish. (Don't ask LOL)
Build the paint a smidge higher than the surrounding area, then buff it down even.
He sometimes uses a paper match cut at an angle as a tiny paintbrush.
I don't do paint. Wrenches and paint don't mix very well for me LOL
