I'm in Ontario, Canada and was wondering what Octane Fuel for a 2010 Honda Civic, mine a manual? I bought the car used and it didn't come with a manual, so I'm not 100%. I believe standard 87 gas would be fine, but maybe because it has a manual transmission it would require higher octane.

Kinda answer my own question... I found the manual online and it says:
"Fuel Recommendation
All models except Si
Your vehicle is designed to operate
on unleaded gasoline with a pump
octane number of 87 or higher. Use
of a lower octane gasoline can cause
a persistent, heavy, metallic rapping
noise that can lead to engine damage."
That being the case it seems using 87 or higher is fine. So what do you guys fill up with?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Top Tier Gas.

Avoid alcohol/ethanol if possible, but it's not a problem if you can't.

Re: What Octane Fuel for a 2010 Honda Civic?
Only ever go to Chevron for my fuel. If auto manufacturers and racing teams go to them for fuel, then I think they are good enough for my business. The quality is noticeable over other brands. Anyways, 87 is fine man. Like the others said, higher octane levels will hurt your gas mileage. Higher octane levels are designed for high compression, high power engines to eliminate premature combustion of the fuel inside the cylinder. Basically. Chemistry! 89 and 91 won't hurt your car, you will just spend more and spend it more often, which precludes the reason you actually purchased a Civic in the first place.
