Unhappy 0% Oil Life Warning on 2013 Civic - How long can I drive it under those conditions?

Hi all,

I have a 2013 Honda Civic (first car!) and today my oil life reached 0%. I was told by others that it was okay driving on 0% oil life since its just a gauge but I am starting to get a little scared. This won't be my first oil change though, but my second one.

I am currently away from my home city working on a three month long project at one of my company's satellite offices and I took my car with me. I have a free service (oil change/tire rotation, etc.) back in my home city. I have exactly one week till I go back home and I am hoping my car will be able to last that long so I can go back home and make use of that free service. With this project coming to a close I don't have time to take the car into service either so that's another problem

My concern is the warnings of negative mileage I've been getting on my Civic (its reached -10 miles). With this I was wondering how many miles can I go at 0% before bad things start happening? I typically average about 25-35 miles on workdays/weekdays and maybe 15-20 miles on the weekends just to give you an idea.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

As long as you don't put anything crazy, like 1,000 miles over, it should ok.
Being fairly new I'd imagine there shouldn't be too much gunk building up in there.

only 2 oil changes so far? My 2014 is already due for a change. You must not drive nearly as much as I do lol.
(I'm at a little over 5,000 miles)

However do note that the gauge in the civic is smarter than a regular gauge, it bases the percentage on your driving, not just a certain mile marker.

For example, when I went on my honeymoonin my 2006 I did over 5,000 miles and still had 50% oil life because it was all highway, whereas when I drove it under my normal commute I'd go between 4-5,000 before it would tell me to change it.

You will be fine. I would just check the level to make sure it still looks good.
