Radar Detectors

Hey guys I'm just wondering what your opinions on radar detectors are... I've heard good and bad. Could I get a few recommendations? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Re: Radar Detectors

well if you get lucky, they work okay. cops never leave the radar on all the time like in the old days, so theres no way you will detect anything until cop happens to shoot 1 second burst at the car in front of you. so if youre the only car on the road, it will 100% be useless. you have to have other speeding cars on the road in front of you that the cop tags first and your detector picks up. it may also be too late tho if the cop sees you and thinks youre speeding compared to the rest of traffic. or if youre the only one speeding, cop will just tag you and then its already too late. also most cop uses laser now which is very accurate and you cant argue that it was the car next to you speeding.

Yeah man perfect answer. That's what I was assuming too. A lot of people have mixed feelings about them. I don't think I'm going to waste my money on one.

Re: Radar Detectors

if you get it, just use it as a "driving aid" and not a way to get out of tickets. it will tell you when to slow down and alert you to problems. alot of people get it and then speed all the time, and they end up with 10 tickets every month. and if you get stopped, theres a 100% chance the cop will not give you a break when he sees the detector in your window, which tells him you speed all the time and try to get away with it. i think they are just another gadget to take up space, like gps. more trouble than its worth.

Re: Radar Detectors

From what i know, in Canada, the police have radar detector detectors, and if they catch you with one they will take it away an give you a heavy fine.

Re: Radar Detectors

they are legal in b.c. alb, sask but not man. or ont. and yes they work... trust me buy a bell or escourt and dont scrimp on the cost.. cheap radar = junk.. the more you pay, the further range and less false alarms you get..... i use a bell rx95 in one car and the escourt x85 in my other car... now they due catch pop radar and pulse radar if you are not the leader of the speeders... that is true... but they will let you know where they are.... this help if it goes off and you have forgotten to put on your seatbelt... they havent seen you yet so put it on.. or late at night driving home after the hockey game from the bar and your radar goes off, you can stop the car and walk/call cab/ or go another direction.. (please please dont drink and drive) but they help with that as well.... also sometimes you might get distracted while driving and the radar goes off......... nothing puts you back to focus once you hear the beep beep... so lots of reasons to pick one up.... go to radar test .com
