if you dont know much about cars, maybe take a friend that does. you can notice alot of things just looking at the car and engine. you want something where the mileage matches the age, like 10k miles every year. you want clean body with no major dents or rust, make sure all the paint matches and there were no crazy accidents, see if everything looks clean and well taken care of, check all the fluids and their condition, etc.
