Curb Rash/Rim/Lip question

Okay so I messed up my rims pretty bad--both wheels on the left side of 2009Civic Lx-S (16 inch Alloy Wheels) got ran into the curb and pretty much the lips around both wheels are pretty scratched/shredded up. My question is, is repairing curb rash (in general) necessary? How does curb rash affect the vehicle/driving etc To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Re: Curb Rash/Rim/Lip question

usually it doesnt matter, they will not be off balance or anything. same happened to one of mine when a lawn mower hit it. i say just leave it cause it will just look worse if you try to fix it. keep them clean so it doesnt get rusty.and maybe look for a replacement on ebay since you have factory rims. im sure you could get one or two without buying a full new set.

Re: Curb Rash/Rim/Lip question

Doesn't that make U sick? Every time I drive past Big-O I get pissed at how they messed up my clearcoat with their tire machine & refused to admit it. I juust try not to look at em. But yeah like Gearbox said they oughtta be ok unless the rim's bent or so much material's been removed that it would throw it out of balance. Don't look at 'em - specially if you're the one that did it.

Re: Curb Rash/Rim/Lip question

ha yeah i have tons of deep scratches where shop used a screwdriver to pry off old weights. rims were brand new too when they came in. you would think they might have some respect. some have minor machine damage too. but the apartment complex refused to take responsibility for the lawn people crashing into my rim. i know it was them for sure cause there is a small strip of grass in front of my spot that they mow with a tractor and just the day before i washed the car and it was perfect. i get home from work the next day (take the bus usually) and i see a huge scrape on the rim and tons of grass leaves all over everywhere. im glad i got cheap $90 rims and not what others on here have.
