Boot opening lever stuck

hello folks,

I have a 2001 Honda Civic. The other day I locked the car boot lever so that I could provide the valet key. However, when I unlocked the lever, I'm unable to open the boot from pulling the lever up. If I push the lever down, the fuel filler door does open. Any tips on how I can fix it? Appreciate it.

Re: Boot opening lever stuck

pry off the top plastic cover and see if you can wiggle the locking mechanism loose. also spray some silicone lube into it and try again. with the cover off, you can see much better what happens when you put the key in. it happens alot and you just need to move it back to the right spot.

Re: Boot opening lever stuck

Thanks for the info. i was actually trying to pry off the plastic cover but I couldnt get it out completely. I just got the tabs off the driver side rail. are there any tabs inside too? Any tips on removing the plastic cover?

Since I couldnt open the plastic cover, I blindly sprayed WD-40 inside the lever mechanism.

Thanks once again.
