changing water pump. measure tightness?

when i torque down my water pump should i get a tool that measures the lbs off the torgue i put on it? i dont want to spend money if i dont have to.. and ive seen the videos on utube where they dont seem to bother. but ive also heard that if i go to tight i will get a weephole leak early as i did after 35000 miles of my last one.

and if so, are there any other nuts i should worry about measuring torque such as the head gasket nuts or whatnot?

thx. ive posted 3 questions on my timing belt job that i worked on all day. im getting there one step at a time and this stuff all just happened so any info would be great thx!

by the way, ive never done this and im so happy im giving it a shot. with the tools ive aquired and parts.... everything down to the antifreeze..... im at about 300 bucks. it would be more to have someone do it for me so im very happy. even though i just have everything off and im yet to do the belt. any good one line words of wisdom on this would be great.

Re: changing water pump. measure tightness?

um, yeah how else would you know how tight they are lol. torque wrench are cheap, maybe $10 for beam style for lower torque values, or $20 for a big beefy one for lug nuts. torquing bolts properly is very important.
