Talking purchasing replacement battery Civic 2dr VP 2005 1.7eng

Civic 2dr VP 2005 1.7 engine - Costco has a battery for $55 and dealer is selling for $100. They are both 51 size - but CCA is 200 higher on Costco's battery than Honda. Which is best to buy? Thank you

I read higher CCA can cause problems. Does it have it have to spec match exactly to be the right one?

higher cca cause problems? just the opposite. im using a 500 cca autocraft battery and it works great (oem is only 420 i think). dealer sells a group51 battery with 500cca too i believe. the more cca the better

Thumbs up Re: purchasing replacement battery Civic 2dr VP 2005 1.7eng

Thank you Gearbox. I have changed batteries in the past on much older cars. So all I got to do is input radio code after changing battery? I got the code on little card that came with the manual.

Is there more to it? Thank you in advance!

Re: purchasing replacement battery Civic 2dr VP 2005 1.7eng

the ecu tends to get a bit messed up since it has to relearn all the fuel trims and stuff and it takes a while for that maybe a tank of gas. best and easiest way is get a battery saver from walmart which is a cig lighter socket that you plug to the car and connect to a 9v battery. turn the car to acc position to energize the socket, that way your radio and ecu settings are saved when you disconnect the battery. be sure not to use anything electrical like dome lights and stuff cause the 9v cannot do anything except keep the memory settings from disappearing.
