Differnt quoted prices for front/back struts help please

Hi everyone

This is my first post. I have a 2002 4door Honda
Civic and was told my front struts are leaking. I was told
that my front and back struts need to be replaced. The back
is very uncomfotable when you hit any bumps and none
wants to sit in the back. I have 57,600 miles on this car and
bought it used in April of this year, but was not told about this
probmlem when I purchased from a private sale. Pretty quickly I
could tell from drving that riding in the back was a problem.

Okay so have taken this to 2 different places for an estimate.
My local Midas said that my front struts are leaking and should
replace both front and rear struts but the total cost for parts
and labor would be almot 1500 dollars. Then took to my local
mechanic who quoted me a price of 1219 parts and labor. My mechanic
said it was not a safety issue but I realize that since I have
people who do sit in the back that I should get this taken care of.
My mechanic said he would put in the best struts using
Monroes, but from reading the forums I,ve heard some people
saying Monroe is not good. The Honda dealer said it would cost 1500
to get it done. I'm very confused and money
is tight, realize that I will soon have to get brake work done and
was told that I would need to eventually replace my Timing Belt due to the
fact that my car is 7 years old. I am not someone who knows
about cars and can't do the work myself. Are the prices way too high?
Any reponses would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, sorry for my rambling.

WOW!!! those quotes are outrages. You can buy the struts for around 350-400$ Tokico struts which are great aftermarket struts. I would not pay over 150 to get the struts installed..I remember buying my full racing d2 suspension for 750 and installing it myself, your talking about paying over 1k for an OEM or with Midas a less than oem suspension for way toooo much money. You sir are getting raped, where are you located? if you were near dallas,tx i would so help you out!

FYI! searching here will save you a whole lot of money, you can also go to 7thgenhonda.com and ask for local help for installation. I can see you saving over 1k by just posting a thread on here or 7thgenhonda.com for someone local to install them for you.
