I found a new trick, which is a time consuming mod:
Puddle lights, so you can see the ground (or puddles on the ground) when you open your door.
I did this mod in my Evo & my Ranger, It should work on a Civic also.
Pics:
I use PNP transistors to do this. The collector leg to negative terminal of the LEDs, the emitter to chassis ground, and the Base to a 12V switch which is grounded when the door is opened (usually the door ajar signal)
You will have to diode isolate the signal if your doors are in parallel. (The Evo was, Ranger was not)
I'm happy with the results.

Re: Add LED Puddle lights to pretty much any vehicle
looks great man, so you did led strips? i have something similar only its just a small trunk lens with 10 red superflux leds inside. its great at night so people dont crash into your door. i just wired mine to the dome light. theyre about 2w each side and my middle dome is a 1w amber led so it all balances to 5w which the stock wires can handle. i didnt do the rears cause they are just never opened.
heres the lens piece i used for the doors, same one thats in the trunk with a 1w red led.
yours light up the ground a ton more but mine are still visible enough and put a good amount of light around the car frame.

Yes I used LED waterproof strips. Everything was from oznium.com, they fit great under the hem of the door (only 1/2" tall, and 3/8" wide) - I used OEM style 3M double sticky tape.
