Seriously...nobody can help?

I posted this thread the other day but didn't get one response so I am going to try again...

I have a 2002 EX that starts fine but as soon as I come to a stop the engine wants to die. If I give it gas it will bog down and almost cut out but never actually does. If I keep pumping the gas it will eventually come back and will run fine until I come to a stop again. This continues until the engine gets good and hot. Anyone know what might be causing this to happen? I talked to a mechanic and he thought it was the distributor cap but now I just read that this model doesn't have one...

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Seriously...nobody can help?

IT could be a number of things. Check the spark plugs, fuel injectors, idle, fuel pump, and throttle cable. It sounds like a bad air fuel mixture, but it could be a faulty part too. Take it to a auto repair shop.

Yeah, I agree with Tragedy. Take it to the shop soon. Can you hear if your engine is pinging at all?

Re: Seriously...nobody can help?

um yeah find a different shop that actually knows the car. could be all sorts of things

-rough idle caused by dirty intake system (throttle body, iac valve)
-spark plugs misfiring
-clogged fuel injectors
-fuel pressure too low (check pressure and possibly replace fuel pump)
-clogged catalytic converter

is ther check engine light coming on?

Re: Seriously...nobody can help?

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, the check engine is coming on (although not all the time) and I have not heard any pinging from the engine. I guess I will take it to a (different) shop but it's probably worth doing a couple of the low-cost options (changing the plugs, clean the fuel injectors, etc.) first right? Can anyone confirm that the 2002 does not have a distributor cap?
Thanks again.
