Help....

i have a 98 civic ex...engine is a D16Y8.....i was told that they do not come vtec but what i dont understand is i have a selenoid for it...how can i tell if it is working? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

its not easy, if there is a solenoid chances are you have vtec. and chances are it works otherwise you would get an engine light coming on for vtec malfunction. im not sure what conditions need to be met for the solenoid to switch the cam profile, but you will need some sort of data logger equipment to monitor the car while someone drives it. you wont be able to feel any difference, the whole point is to have a smooth transition between cam profiles at higher rpm.
