Need Some Advice

I plan on changing my valve cover gasket as I have a slow oil leak in that area that I would like to take care of. Has anybody done this and if so is their anything that I should be aware of? I think it should be a pretty simple job, but for those who have done it do you have any tips? I also plan on cleaning the engine bay so I can tell if the leak is still present after the job is done. I have a power washer and I planned on using that with some simple green engine cleaner. Is this a good idea? I do not want to ruin paint or my asphalt driveway as well as any other seals that are in the engine. If someone has a better easier way I am all ears. Thanks in advance.

Joe

Re: Need Some Advice

idk, i need to change one on an older accord. i hear the hardest part is getting the spark plug seals in. the cover gasket is pretty easy by itself. just take off the top cover, the wire harness holder, and the valve cover bolts. it should come out with some wiggling. space is limited, and be sure not to let any dirt and stuff in the engine. you prolly will have to scrape the old gasket off so use a scraper but dont get any bits in the engine. may want to change the oil shortly after changing the gasket just in case.
