got ripped off at chevron today

and im not too happy! my gas gauge was barely below the 1/2 mark and i was thinking hmm this is way too early to fill up its only gonna take 7 maybe 8 gallons max, but the stupid pump kept going to 10.2 gallons wtf!! i am very good at estimating how much gas is in the car and in the last 5 yrs, ive never been off by more than a half gallon. i usually wait til the gas light comes on, and there is ALWAYS exactly 2 gallons left in the tank and i put in around 11 gallons to fill it up. my gas gauge is VERY accurate too! for the gauge to only be a tick below 1/2 mark and take a whole 10+ gallons would mean i would be totally out of gas before the light even came on lmao. what a ripoff. and when i go to explain it to the stupid guy at the counter, he goes blah blah they just calibrated the pumps blah and didnt listen to any of it. i didnt even want my money back, i just was letting him know the pump is messed up.

cliffs notes: went to chevron, they charged me for extra 2 gallons of gas that didnt go in the car.

Re: got ripped off at chevron today

Should have jammed a rock in the handle of the pump keeping it on and then drove away.
Seriously though, a sign would have been best. If they're not going to tell their customers, at least your sign will help people out.

im pretty sure the guy wouldve ripped it off lol. it was the pump right next to the store window and all the guy does is look outside cause nobody was even inside buying stuff. now i gotta look for a new chevron. and i knew something was wrong when the pump was going reallly slow. i couldnt even hear the gas coming out til i put my ear next to the hole.

There is supposed to be a number on every gas pump you can call and someone will come out to check them. These places can get huge fines if their pumps are off kilter.

^ fahreals, department of weights and measures right?

That does suck, but you know our gas gauges arent very accurate, like they read full for the first 100-150 miles, then suddenly drop to around half a tank. How can you say that yours is very accurate?

Re: got ripped off at chevron today

ever since they replaced the sender, its been very close. after alot of driving, i know enough to figure out how much gas there is. yeah it stays at the top for first 100 miles or so and goes down from there. thats how most cars are. like i said, its first time in 5 yrs ive noticed that big a difference.

RallyeRedRider has a little shameless behaviour in the past

Re: got ripped off at chevron today

Sucks, I've actually pulled up to a pump before and they had a sign that said "this pump does not accurately measure fuel". Needles to say I got back in a drove somewhere else.
