Alternator Tricks?

Is there some trick u have for taking out an alternator out of a 6th gen civic? i know u can just take off the power steering pump and pull it out .. but that seems like a really tight squeeze .. any other ideas? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Re: Alternator Tricks?

Disconeect the battery first thing. remove the i beleave it a 12mm bolt. jack the car up remove the 14mm. bolt from the bottom. you will have to connectors to remove from the back of the alt. remove it stright out the bottom. you may have to twist and turn it a bit but it will come out with out removing other things.

Re: Alternator Tricks?

the alt belt runs on the inside of the pully, so if your going to replace it go ahead and do them all sents ull have to take off the a/c and the pws aswell.

A '96 is a 6th-gen, not 5th.
