It means one of the boots either inner or outer has split allowing they grease to leak out...... Over time dirt gets in and wears the CV joint what you are hearing is the worn out parts with little or no grease making contact..... In extreme cases the joint breaks completely and you are stuck, if the inner breaks sometimes it can damage the inside of the transmission.. Options are replacing the CV joint assembley which is easy, split boots and patchs are junk avoid them.

Re: Cvjoints noise whiles turning wheel to sides

dont replace the cv joint. its a waste of time and work. just buy 2 completely new half shafts for your axel.

to remove the half shaft you have to undo the bolt thats between your rims/hubcaps and the tire, undo the lower ball joint, smash out the brake rotor with a hammer so u dislodge the joint, then rip the half shaft out. its a really tight squeeze pulling it out so just break the seal of the boot completely. then put it in and put everything back together.

its a 2 man job, we actually used 3, but a lift is highly recommended
