manual! its just alot of fun! lol, and i have no problems with the distractions. i'd be smoking a cigarette and steering with one hand, talking on the cell phone with the other, yelling 'hold on!' once in a while to shift gears lol

anyone, no matter how retarded can learn to drive a stick, if you can be willing to sacrifice your clutch life (among other things). my girlfriend however does not fit this mold, and however many times she could flawlessly operate my car at the end of a "training session." the times I'm drunk and need her to drive my car, she can NEVER FUkKING DO IT. So I will eat my words... or put my foot in my mouth, whichever you guys prefer?

Re: Manual or Auto

Manual FTW though guys.... come on an auto is for a girl, or a girly man. in the back of our minds all of us "stick" owners think this. if you're a girl and you do own one and think autos are not cool, well, you are probably smarter than most of us guys. Because, not only do you "get" why we like to drive a stick but you understand it. Even more so you relish why we love driving a 5 (or more) speed. Therefor, you should have your honorary set of testicles. You probably already "own" your own set of testicles via your boyfriend, however.

Re: Manual or Auto

THERE IS NO NEED TO DOUBLE-CLUTCH... you guys have been watching way too much Fast and the Furious.... the only people who need to double clutch are Truckers driving 18 wheelers... they teach you that in trucking school... talking about double clutching with your civic makes me laugh and throw up at the same time...

Re: Manual or Auto

Manual FTW!
I learned to drive on my auto 93 Camry and have been driving that ever since. wanted to learn how to drive stick so a friend taught me on my senior ditch day a couple years ago. Honestly, it's a a piece of cake to drive stick. His old Tercel didn't even have a tach, but if you've played any racing video game driving manual, you can always hear when to shift. Just bought my 04 Civic with the MT and I love it.

Re: Manual or Auto

As well as the obvious lameness of an auto, there is a horsepower loss and higher maintenance costs associated with a lame auto (considering you know how to use a clutch properly). And furthermore, if you live in a mountainous region like i do, your brakes will need attention waaaaaaayyyyy more attention and we all know how well auto's like to climb hills....
With a manual, downshifting properly with a little bit of brakes will keep both clutch and brakes from wearing out prematurely.
Even girls should not use auto's. They should be ratified from existence.

Manual trans way better than Auto trans.
Way cheaper replacement cost and easier maintenance

Re: Manual or Auto

i have a bunch of cars, and most of them are sticks-my current 'drivers (7), it's 3 sticks and 4 automatics. Our Civic is driven by my daughter, 2003 LX (her first car) and is an auto. she is 20 and can drive a stick-she drives my 88 daytona shelby and 98 jeep wrangler (not my GTO) but likes the ease of the automatic and is not into 'hotrodding' whatever she is driving. One of my drivers is a 96 Lincoln Mark VIII, and it has a shift kit , 24,000 GVW cooler and I have a tuner to firm up even more shifts-I can guarantee you that noone can shift as fast as that trans-automatics, when set up right, are much quicker.
