Failed the smog test!

My sisters 88 Civic recently failed its smog/emmisions test. The engine is in great condition but apparently it needs a new cat and egr valve. Where can i get these and what will be the cost?

i had to buy a cat and it cost me like 80 bucks from an internet site, just search around and see what you find thats pretty much what i did.

Dont get a stock Honda cat.. they cost an arm and leg.
better off getting an aftermarket one, or going custom. this will still turn out cheaper.

Im not sure about the EGR valve though, sorry.

If i were you i would probably just buy another stock cat off ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...41863324QQrdZ1 ) and put in inline, right after the stock existing cat, youll lose some power, but youll DEFINATLY pass smog. After you pass you can always take it off. By the way, how did they come up with the egr valve failure? Did they determin that through the sniffer test (exhaust)? If they did you could probably get by with that extra cat but if they found it through a DTC then you definatly need a used one. For a cheap egr id hit up the local junkyard.

Yep as long as you pass, thats the main thing.
I'd take option2's suggestion there, just get whatever you can, install it to pass the test, then remove it if you really want (but replace it with something else asap).
