I was wondering if anyone could tell me the basic 60K maintance requirements and any positve and negative experiences that they have had and what i should do to keep my car in tip top shape.... please list annnnnnnny negative things that have happend and what i could do to keep them from happening. just do regular oil changes and keep good care of it... should do fine... just dont romp on it right when you start it in 15 degree weather or anything stupid

Question

pretty good tips so far.... what has been some problems any of you have encountered? what are some symptoms before things happen?

AND....... My car is a 97, black, EX, 2dr, manual, 60K. I want to make my car look good but not to flashy. I like the rims that are on the SI and maybe drop it 1.4", little things like that. I want a car that is some show and ALOT OF GO! I also dont want to get it stollen sooo I was wondering if people could post some pictures and suggest a good alarm or something to prevent a theft.......ALOT of questions...i know but this forum thing is VERRY helpfull and i wanna make the best of my time and money with my car.

Around 60K you should definatly check into doing a tune up. ( timing belt, head gasket, replace spark plugs etc.)

Basically, what everyone else says, and also just use common sense.

If you start it up and it makes some really loud, strange noises, shut it off.

It can really pay off.

Honda trannies are notoriously know for there bad trannies.....My Integra had 125k and the 3rd gear synchros went out and it continuously popped out of gear and grinded into gear. One of the best things you can do is put in synchromesh tranny fluid. It will give your tranny alot longer life.

Where did you get a 97 with only 60k on it? Whose Grandmother was driving that car?

I imagine it is an excellent condition with those baby miles on it.

I see, I see

The only reason i got it is because it had 60K, like you said, still a baby but what are some common problems in a Civic? You say that the trannys arent too good, what have been some problems with peoples transmissions? and what is synchromesh tranny fluid?

Just be careful you lug nuts don't bust and your wheels go flying off. I would make sure not to go fast.

Anyone remember an old car called a Fiero? The engine was in the back and they used to catch fire and explode. *BOOM*!
