Engine Check Light......

When I got home, my check engine light was on. I checked all the fluids and just went through the engine to see if everything was ok, and everything seemed fine. I also checked the gas cap to make sure it was on tight, and it was. I have around 15,000 miles on my car as well and just took it in around 2,000 miles ago to honda for a check up. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I don't want to take my car all the way to the dealership, its a hassle. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

did you reset the light after you got it fixed before? if not, that might be the problem

Dude that's the maintenance required light... not the check engine light.

Better take that puppy in if you value it at all. Unless you have added exaust or something... then it could just be an O2 sensor problem.

Not the maintenance required light, the light thats lit up on my dash is the Malfunction Indicator Lamp that says check.

well don't you think that is a little odd for my car, being that it only has 15,000 miles on it?

This is a Honda Civic... nothing is odd. I ignored my check engine light once... in my 92 civic.. sure it had 120,000 miles on it... but it was a dependable car. But it also had a cracked radiator and by the time I was done beating the hell out of it the repairs cost me $1500. Moral of the story... the check engine light is usually on for a reason.

my maintenance light is on right now too. I just hit 10,000 miles. I tried RTFM where you hold the button the cluster down for 30 sec or whatever and that doesnt work. I am not sure if I am doing it wrong or what. I remember reading on some old threads of how to shut the light off but I searched and couldnt find them again. anyways it would be helpful to hear your opinions on how to fix that annoying light. oh yea I have a tcs exhaust but got that at awhile ago so I dont think thats why its doing that.

This thread is not about the maintenance light... it is about the check engine light. You should be able to just do like you explained with the maintenance light. Turn the car off... Hold the button and then turn the car on and wait for 10 seconds while holding the button.

My check engine light came on when I took apart my Injen SRI for cleaning. It was because of the sensor. I cleaned it off and it solved the problem

If you hit 10,000 miles like mine, then you need to take it in to the dealer for the 10,000 maintenance check, and they'll reset it. It's in your manual if you still have it.
