I thought that we already established that (manual at least) Civics don't have a 'govenor' or anything like that. Top speed of the car is limited by power vs. wind/road/transmission resistance. Only high powered cars need to be electronically speed limited, not 100HP Civics.

Rep Power: 0 well there's gonna come a point where your tires are supposed to go up to, speedwise, and there's a reason why certain tires go with certain cars. good luck getting your car past 120 or so anyways

Well, I could have said something more along the lines of:
, "This is without a doubt the most incompetent and highly inept question that I have read to date."
But that wouldn't be as humorous, now would it?
Besides who takes that much time writing a post, as long as the point gets across?

Rep Power: 0 The part that is a "speed limiter" is the govenor. I am aware that it is somewhere in the ECU and i've also picked up that the EX 2k1 does not have a govenor, or so i was told. I asked these questions because I've seen a 96 civic with the govenor removed and rev limiter removed somewhere on a website and i would think i would have to do that before I install nitrous and am just researching all the possibilities before i go out and get it done. Never drove the EX but as soon as my LX hits the tip of 7000 rmps where it just turns red it'll kick it back which isn't good for my engine and if i'm running NOS i need a little more room to play before it kicks it back if its possible. Thanks for the help!

Rep Power: 0 That's the problem though, see. The redline is there for a reason, to stop excessive RPMs on a stock engine. I know that the engine could take more in extreme cases (misshifts) but it is not something you want to do often. If you upgrade your engine internals to handle more RPMs, you would need to reprogram your ECU anyway, thus accomplishing what you wanted.

Rep Power: 0 I have a 02 ex Man. and i topped out at 125 on I-40. If it has a governor it sucks and is not doing its job. So i'll take it that these rice rockets don't have governers!

Rep Power: 0 Rev limiters, yes.
Speed limiters, no. The speed limiter on your car is the point at which the horsepower = the aerodynamic resistance.
If you want to go faster, you can:
Increase the power
Decrease the aerodynamic resistance
Move to the moon (be sure and bring a supply of air for combustion to occur)
Good luck!

Rep Power: 0 I remember reading a bicycling magazine a while back that mentioned that something like 97% of the force applied to the pedals is used to overcome wind resistance, and that a bike could travel upwards of 200mph if you could ride in a vacuum.
That would be pretty cool.

At least Boosted seems to be using the SEARCH function before asking a question that's been asked 1000 times before.
However, are you sure you have a speed limiter?
I'm not too familiar with how the HX's CVT works... Perhaps you are limited by gearing???
I think it has been fairly well established that no other Civics have speed limiters. I don't see why the HX, the most economical of all the Civics (until the Hybrid), would require a limiter.
