Bad Gas milage

I have a 2002 Civic sedan LX and ever since the winter started i have been experiencing very bad gas milage...

Last time i filled my tank i filled it up all the way (10.5 gallons is what it said on the fuel pump) and i only got 232 miles on that tank

The other day i put in $5 of gas which was 2.5 gallons and i only got 46 miles out of it

after doing the math i got 18.4 mpg (i sold my pathfinder b/c of readings like this to get this civic)

Now my question is, does the cold weather really affect the gas milage, b/c just about every morning i warm up my car for like 10 minutes before goin to school, also with the recent snowstorms ive been driving in very slow traffic...

I just wanted to know is anyone else experiencing this or does my Vic have soem type of fuel management problem

If anyone can help that'll be great!

yeah i get extremely shitty mileage on my lx sedan too. i usually fill up 10.something something gallons every time i go 2 the gas station. and every time i check my trip a meter n calculate how many miles i got on a tank of gas. it comes out to be like 24. sometimes like 20 or 19. n im just like..... WTF>.... if im not mistaken the ratings on the invoice for the car said 29 city 33 highway. now, granted im driving highway and city, mainly city, but my mileage shouldnt be so far under the mark... should it? (oh btw, its a 04 lx)

go figure.

*bump*

try warming the car up for only a minute, or minute and a half, and take all that trach, and extra stuff out of the car. if you're getting 18 MPG there is a problem, maybe also check your tire pressures, low pressure, will also kill your mileage.

Cold weather can hurt your gas mileage, in part due to the colder air.

it may also be your air filter but check your tire pressure...you have no idea how much you lose by underinflating or overinflating your tires
