I have a 2001 DX model with 284,390 kms on it and still drives today, tomorrow and next few years. I need some fixing on front passenger shocks, breaks, buzzing because of the DLR and my windshield is cracked. I guess it would cost me $500 CAN and ready for another 250K. YES, YES.
thanks for some of the DIY videos it helps me. special thnx to JerryLee. That DLR thing works man!!

274,000 miles, never rebuilt and kills some of the subies at AutoX still! Also, just about everything BUT the engine has broken at least once so far. I tried one of those gasket sealing additives as an experiment to see if they actually work, and as far as I can tell it made everything worse. I just fill it with 20/50 and ignore the smoke-screen. This engine is making it to 300k or it's going out with a bang on the track. No exceptions.

So my 96cx is the lemon here! In this whole 13 pages nobody else had the speedo/odo go out or the heater core take a dump? At least there's other exhaust manis cracked. It's got about 180k & I got it new, engine not beat hard but suspension gets a workout. Done all maintenance myself except heater core welded up & a/c charging. Regular stuff done at book intervals.
Got an 81 1500gl 5spd that I got in 88 @ 118K, now it's got 283k. I killed the tranny w/ stupidity @ 205k but I think that's it. Somebody else has been using it the last few years & it looks to be due for a going-over.

From my many years of owning cars NEVER go to a stealership for anything other than warranty items. They will always be more expensive. Find a good local repair shop. They want your business the stealership guy is just a hired hand and really only looking for comm. or bonus money.

Lets see I got about 153,000 miles on my 98 LX. Stock motor, stock tranny, only thing ever replaced was the radiator and the cat. converter. I had a crack in it. Other than that the car has treated me pretty well.

2003 civic dx. 5spd manual. around 120k miles.bought the car brand new.
did most maintenance, never really had any problems with it till recently... exhaust manifold starting to crack...ive been looking through the forums about this..seems that its a relatively common problem...and i read here that honda has an extended emissions warranty, but when i called honda up they said there were none for the 03 models? any1 know whats up or has sucessfully gotten in replaced through warranty?

I love the forum and have learned a lot in the last few days.
Here I am with my 01 LX east of Amboy, CA on Route 66 back in August. On this day my Civic was just a pinch over 185,000. As I read this forum I feel like some sadistic **** as I've skipped most of the maintenance over the years. Except for oil changes and the occasional tire and brake changes my Civic has run like a champ asking for no special care. But next week will come the timing belt change, tune up and coolant flush.
The head liner and fabric for the side interiors will come soon as they are starting to detach.

Newbie here...Got my 98LX last October with 164k, changed timing belt, water pump, engine oil, autotranny oil and coolant, now Im at 166k.Heard rattling(or knocking) noise from engine when accelerating after about 3 full tanks of 87 octane gas.Switched to 93 octane and the sound disappeared.
I might be in the wrong thread but I just need to ask, the car is fitted with primewell ps830 tires, and the noise coming from the tires is killing me. what brand of inexpensive (not cheap)but reliable tire would you recommend for daily driving?
Thanks

Since my last post back in this thread back in 2006, here's my latest update.
I've replaced the cracked exhaust manifold, all my coil packs and 3 of the door lock actuator back in 2007, went back to NGK plugs instead of the plat4 bosch in 2008. Everything is still OEM, my clutch is still original since day 1.
Couldn't do it all without the folks in this site with there input.
I have moved on from CA to AZ so I can have a better quality of life, the 92mi each way to and from work was killing me. Now I do 50mi. each way but the AZ traffic is nothing compared to CA.
Here's the..., sorry for the blurry camera phone pic. I took this back in November this year. Oh btw, I still get 515mi. or so on a full tank, which is GREAT!
