Rep Power: 0 Air Intake Owners! Ppl With Bad Gas Mileage..cel Wont Turn Off?check This!
Well, i could not get my check engine light to turn off. I kept resetting ECU and it would turn back on. I also was getting like 17 miles to the gallon. today i took my car to the dealerthis, and they ran 2 hours of diagnostic tests and a fuel pressure test or somethin... The found the the hose that you replace when installing an aftermarket intake... not recycled air hose... the vaccum hose (not necessary to change but Injen and AEM give them to you cause stock isnt long enough.. Well the stock clamps i got off of the stock hose didnt clamp hard enogh cause this hose was thicker, and so the guy got his spool of vaccum hose, reeled it out and got some clamps and through it on. The hose wasnt tight enough so it wasnt returning air properly.... Anyway check this out if you have my symptoms or remember changing the hose.

I have a 2k3 ex as well. And I installed the AEM CAI. I got the check engine light one. I bought one of those diagnosis testers majiggy's,lol whatever u call it, that hooks up to ur ecu and tells you what is wrong and allows u to reset the error code. It was saying there was something wrong with the temp sensor, which goes into the air intake, so either i have a leak, or my sensor is bad, which it shouldnt be. I'll try the hoses cause the one they send is different than the stock one. I'll try it out and post back. I'll get the exact error message it is giving me and post that as well.

Rep Power: 0 what hose? The only 2 things that are connected to the intake are the O2 sensor and the breather tube. Would not having a breather tube shouldn't cause a CEL?

HELLO McFLY!!!!!!
Did you not read the DIY!?!?!?!?
Taken from the Installing AEM CAI DIY
The Final Step: Remove protective tape on AEM logo!
Also, you may want to reset your Fuel Injection ECU. If you don't your car will still eventually learn how to deal with the new mass amounts of air. This just makes the process a little faster.
Thanks to 2k1civic.com member knight who posted this a long *** time ago.
To do this:
A) Open the fuse box in your engine compartment and look on the diagram for the F.I. ECU (7.5 amp fuse)
B) Pull the fuse out and wait 10 minutes or longer.
C) Put the fuse back in.
D) VERY IMPORTANT - Start the car, and DO NOT touch the gas peddle!!!
E) Let the car idle for about 10 minutes, DO NOT toch the GAS!!!
F) Turn off car.
G) Turn on car, and turn back off.
H) Turn back on, and make some noise!!!

I tried the whole take the fuse out etc, just now. I waited bout 15 mins. I started the car, let it idle for 10 mins or so, did not touch the gas. Then i did the start, turn off ,start ****, and now the Maintance Required light is blinking each time i start the car, it turns off, but now whenever I start it, it blinks for like 10 secs, and the check engine light is still on. I disconnected the battery and am lettin it sit for a few mins and will turn it back on and see if that resest the computer.
Anyone have a solution to gettin rid of the maintance required light?

Rep Power: 0 that hose is the PCV vent, or positive crankcase vent... I doubt that would casuse the CEL to come on, because a lot of people take that hose off and put a small breather filter on there to vent the gases, all that hose is for is to vent gases out back into the intake. Its parts of emissions so harmful gases arent let directly into the air.
