hey whats the deal with all the whey protein and crap like that, like everyone i know is drinking that crap when they work out or they all tell me too, but whats the rundown about it.
The run down is that you need 1.5-2g of protein per lbs. of body weight to grow or maintain mass. That amounts to a lot of meat a day. Therefore protein powder is a cheaper, more easily digested way of getting protein. If you choose to go that route, then get pure powder without must sugars or fat. I recommend optimum nutrition.
Do you know anything about mixing fats, proteins, and carbs?

no i do not know much about mixing, them. But all my friend does is mix this fruit drink stuff with water, and replaces a meal a day with that stuff. But what he mixes is creatine.

Monohydrate has fallen out of favor because of some mild unwanted side effects. CEE has been preferred as of late. But I have never used either.
Basically anything you mix with carbs will absorb faster. Anything you mix with fats will absorb slower. If you mix carbs and fats together, then you will absorb the fats a little faster than you would normally, consequently increasing fat in the body. Post work out you want an insulin (increased carb intake) spike combined with protein to get the protein into the blood stream fast. At night before you go to bed you would prefer to mix good fats with protein so that the protein slowly absorbs over night. Cottage cheese is probalby one of teh best before bedtime snacks even though I hate it.
ok for the creatine, they say that some side effects of it, are increased muscle size due to water retention. So that means u must drink alot of water??? j/w like will it cause cramps if u don't drink ungodly amounts of water.
Like i have asked some people about whey and creatine side effects from them, and they all vary, its wierd. So what all side effects have u all had, at least those who use suppliments.
Yeah, you use a weight and lift it for a certain amount of reps until you can't do anymore. For building mass, you should be doing 4-6 reps. If on the 6th rep you feel like you can do more, then you need to add some more weight. Also, you should be careful, this can be dangerous and it is advised to use a spotter.
