Soreness in muscles a couple days after workout normal?

I just recently started working out. I work an office job (I sit 8 hours a day), and get little exercise, it's been years since I've been to a gym.

Anyway, I've done a few sessions with a trainer, I've had 3 visits so far, 2 of which were core stability, and 1 which was on the weights, doing upper body/arms stuff.

We did the weight training on Tues, and still today, I can feel the soreness in my muscles. It's not painful or anything, they feel just like they do after a normal workout, I just find it a bit odd that it's 2 days later and it feels the same.

Should I be concerned about this, or are my muscles just in a state of WTF because they haven't been used for so long?

Yes sir, it is common.

Commonly known as DOMS, meaning Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. DOMS is common, yes I know that is a wikipedia link but it's the first one I found and I am far toooooo lazy to find links on BB sites right now.

MegaHurtz, it's normal, don't freak out.

Also, just another thing to think about. Don't take offense but it is just something to think about: How long has it been since you have been "active"? Yes you are only 22, but our bodies slow down when we aren't constantly in motion, dig? Think of how long you have been inactive, think of how long of a time frame that has been. It will take just as much time for you to become 'active' looking or feeling, again.

Either way, it is good to see people changing their lifestyle.

There are many factors that play into it. One is how active you been in the past few months. Another is much you tore your muscle fibers, not in a bad way. If you lift heavy enough, it cause microtears in your muscles, which allow for growth. If you did a heavy set and caused more tears, you may have soreness for longer. In additionally, hydration influences soreness by the amount of lactic acid build up you get.
