I finally took up running again

I know it doesn't work for everyone but last time with a nice restricted diet I lost about 65 lbs....the one thing I forgot about is the shin pains, the ones you get from having not exercised them in a while...anyone have a better remedy than ice or warming them? cuz this is the one thing that will deter me from keeping up my routine. as I'm finally feeling motivated to go running/jogging/walking 4-5 times/week 2-3 miles/day.

That muscle is called the tibialis anterior.

The most important thing to do is to make sure that you have proper footwear for running.

Also, stand on a set of steps. Stand on the edge with only your heels supporting you and slowly let your toes drop below level and then flex them up. This is a great exercise for your shins.
