problem with weight gainers is that they contain a ton of sugars which is junk for calories. your carbs should come from complex carbs like pasta, rice, bread, etc. not simple carbs like straight sugar. at 6'1" and 150, you've got another 40-50 lbs before you need to be worried about fat, so you've got plenty of wiggle room that most of us don't have. weight gainer shakes have a ton of calories. to gain weight, you have to consume more calories than you burn. if those excess calories are just straight sugar, you will store them as fat. in your case, you're extremely lean, so even 15lbs of fat wouldn't hardly be noticeable. in your case, to gain good weight, muscle weight, you need to eat 200-300 grams of protein a day. if you can focus on that instead of the weight gainer shakes, then you'd pack on a lot more muscle than just "weight." that much protein is not easy to eat in a day. it takes quite a bit of diet planning. i've done it before. for 6 months straight, i ate 400+ g's of protein a day. that's tough to do.
One a day please!!
I don't know how to eat 400+g's of protein a day!!
and don't knock us skinny guys...it has taken me 3 years to go from under 150 to about 167 at this point and I am 6'1"
I don't know how to eat 400+g's of protein a day!!
8 egg whites for breakfast
50g protein shake 2 hours later
8 oz chicken breast for lunch
50g worth tuna 2 hours later
60g protein shake after eating
steak or chicken for dinner 2 hours later
50g protein shake before bed
that would be a little over 350g's and that's just the protein i'd eat, not to mention the wheat pastas, brown rice, tons of veggies and fruits, moderate fats (flax, fish oil, almonds, etc) it's pretty much a part time job to each that much protein and food. you have to force yourself. it was worth it though. in 6 months, my bench went up 50 lbs to 300lbs. not too shabby for a 185lb guy (at the time, 175 now). i can't do that now as i've been out of the gym for awhile. about to get back at it now that i've got a somewhat normal life again.

Didn't you get mad gas from that amount of protein. I get stanky gas when I eat that much protein, especially too much whey. I'm at the point where I am making slow gains, partly because I am afraid to get fat!

not really. no more than usuall i guess. whey doesn't affect me at all. when i was eating that much, i was doing 30-45 min cardio a day, 6-7 days a weeks to prevent getting too fat. i still put some fat on, but minimal. i was only eating about 3000 calories a day.
you guys are nuts. i eat so little and im still fat lol. maybe 1500cal a day or just fruits, a lil meat, and some dairy. im too poor to afford that much food.
okay heres a tip, rub whatever you want to eat on a piece of paper. it the spot turns clear, its your window to weight gain
lol...and i thought i was skinny at 5' 9" 175...
i don't know so much about weight gain, but i do know "functional fitness" when i feel it.... www.crossfit.com www.gymjones.com
give it a read first and then decide if you're going about your goal the right way

that makes you a bean pole
nah, seriously though, in my eyes, i don't look any bigger or different from when i weighed 150 and ran 12:00 2-milers easy. I really feel the added weight when running though, now i actually have to work to get a 13:00 2-mile. could be that i'm a bit older too, but that's crazy talk
eat as much snickers, chicken skin, and pork fat as you can.
This is the first good advice I have seen! There are 2 ways to put on weight, fat/water and muscle. You have to build the muscle, so....eat big and lift big! Whole milk will put weight on you faster than you can imagine. Yes its fat. But you will not build muscle staying ripped. Do your time in the gym with some body fat. It will help your joints, it will help you build muscle as you will always be stronger when your weight is up. Just lift a while and then lean up and watch your bench press and every other movement spiral downwards. The fat weight gain is not a bad thing in the beginning!
G
do not start weight lifting...play basketball and those to gain more height...
I lifted weights 17 years ago I am 33....I wish I had started later...
if you are 19, then by the time you get to be my age, you will gain weights anyway...but if I were you I would try to be taller...
