Ok well I am working out on tuesdays, thursdays and sundays. In my apartment complex we have this machine...http://store.net2fitness.com/mamx48mxmust.html
Can someone give me some insight on what would be best to do on this machine? I cannot afford a gym membership therefore I use the free workout room in the apartment. Would it be best to get me a set of adjustable dumbells and work out with them? I am also taking Muscle Milk before and after each workout. Are there any other things I should take before and after workout?
I hate using those machines. The only good thing about them is maybe the leg extensions and lat pull downs. You don't a gym to work out. I work out in my living room 3-4 days a week with nothing but dumbbells. There are tons of exercises that you can do with them. The possibilities are endless.

Alright well is there any way to head me in the right direction with dumbells, my birthday is coming up in a week and I might ask for them for christmas.
I personally do'nt like the machines because they limit you to mostly isolation movements. They also don't help strengthen your stabilizer muscles. Free weights will be more beneficial in the long run, but that isn't to say that machines cannot be a good supplement.

I look at the machine as a good start to working out. I have been working out for the last 3 weeks to a month and before that it has been over a year and a half.

I own the dumbbells with the screw on collars. They work good but they come loose as you are lifting. I put to collars on each side and lock them. Every so often I will buy some more plates to add to my collection.

Versa bell or bowflex has those dumbbells that allow you to click in weights from 5-50lbs. If you are just starting out, then that should be good. As you gain strength, 50lbs may not be enough for certain exercises like chest, back or legs.

Those look like a great product and I would love to have them. It would definitely save time switching weights.

Yeah but I cannot afford them, with my rent and car payment, and going to school full-time my money doesn't run long. I can't even afford $40 for a gym membership, so I guess for now I will stick with the machine they have until I can afford something better.

Why can't you use the school gym?

I could, but with the convienence of the gym right next door to my apartment and it being 24 hours. Whereas the schools gym closes at around 10pm.
You shouldn't be working out after 10pm anyway! haha. Second, you said you don't want to join a gym so why even compare the two gyms. It looks to me like you have two options.
Make the time to go the school gym
Buy weights and do it at home
