I kind of gathered that, from your post.
You can make a high calorie shake that won't make you fat, if you can swallow.
First, take a cup of dry oatmeal and put it into a blender or food processor and run it until the oatmeal turns into a powder. Add one cup skim milk, 3/4 cup cold water, a tablespoon of nestle chocolate drink powder, a few dashes of cinnamon, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, and 3 or 4 scoops of chocolate protein powder(my favorite is Optimum). Blend together and drink through a straw. You can substitute 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter for the olive oil, but that may make it too thick for drinking from a straw.
This shake will come to almost 1000 calories, and it tastes good. The oatmeal provides fiber that you are prolly lacking in your current diet, and it's a source of good carbs. It's better than any pre-packaged shake mix.
You need to be taking a good multi-vitamin.
I wish you a rapid and good recovery from your surgery.
