Problem with chest

Ok so here is the deal, I used to lift steadily last year and sorta slacked off last spring and during the summer the job i was doing i was lifting heavy stuff all day so i was always tired after work to hit the gym. Well i just got back into lifting this past fall and my chest will not develop. My arms, chest, back and shoulders all develop but my chest hardly shows any gain. I am wondering if it is my body type that keeps my chest from growing like the rest of my muscles. I am around 170-175 lbs and im 6 2". Just curious to any possible reasons this is happening To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

just some possibilities:

-lack of eating food, food is the source for muscle growth
-how do you bench? are you targetting the chest and not the supporting muscle groups [triceps/delts]? http://thefitshow.com/week3/milos_chest_large.htm
-how does your 'chest' routine look like?

just take in note that the chest is a difficult muscle to grow and takes time. heres a nice article about chest training: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/magic_pin_pull.htm

My meal plan is pretty solid, I eat about 5 meals a day and my routine is pretty typical. When i lift i do chest and tris and my chest exercise is incline dumbbells, flat bench, decline and it depends sometimes i do incline flys or other times i do cable crossovers.

you are a rail. I was kinda thin at 6'2'' 230. I think you should eat a lot more than you are.

My mom is really thin and small and my dad is about 230 so I am not going to be a powerhouse.

Training chest with barbell movements often has poor results with long thin arms. I would substitute dumbbells for the barbell movements.

Cable crossovers are usually ineffective for those whose pecs are not already developed.

You should consider using a pec deck, and be very sure you bring the palms of your hands completely together, with weight set so that your arms do NOT bow at the elbows. Otherwise, you are not getting a complete range of motion.

At your stage of development, decline bench is pointless. Substitute Pec deck for the decline bench.

Be sure you are not overtraining your chest. If you are also training triceps on chest day, and you are doing dips as part of your triceps workout, then you are also training your pecs with that move. So, figure on 3 solid exercises for chest, then dips during your triceps workout, and that works out to 4 movements for chest. That's plenty.
