Question forearms

what up fellas, I've been working on my arms for a while and have seen an improvement in my forearms. But the area closest to the wrist is still pretty slim. I've been doing reps of 20 normal & reverse wrist curls with 10lb weights. when i remember to, i usually carry around a tennis ball or this spongy thing to squeeze, while doing other stuff.

any suggestions? (serious, no "just jack off more" replies pls)

Thanks in advance

There's not much muscle near the wrist, so there's not much to hypertrophy. Even pro bodybuilders are usually pretty slim near the wrists. Forearm size has a lot to do with how far down your forearm the muscle goes.

so in that case, i'm screwed. cuz it seems like my forearm muscle doesn't even go down 1/2 way to my wrist.

I just got off work. I'm bored. I have a tape measure.

My forearm (wrist to elbow) is about 12". At the largest point, it's 13.75" around. About 3.5" down from the elbow, the muscle starts to taper in dramatically. It looks pretty cool to me.

The thing is... small joints are a good thing in bodybuilding. If I had a 34" waist instead of 29", I wouldn't even look big. With my small waist though, I look a lot bigger than I really am.

If you still think they need work though, go above 10lbs. Whenever I do reverse curls, I do sets of 10 at 40lbs-60lbs. Ten pound weights aren't really going to put the mass on. I think a decent amount of the mass in my forearms is from just doing heavy back work without straps.

Edit:

Check out this photo of Lee Priest. His forearm muscles taper in around the halfway point, too.

thanks for the great info! hah the heaviest dumbells i have in the basement are 10lbs, but im planning on joining a gym soon. guess i'll just buy one of those gold brick watches to divert attention from my wrist then.

i've also been trying to gain weight (the way our fellow member laid out in the other thread) but so far it's only going to my bottom sections was hoping a little to get some more meat to the arms

just as the picture shows, the muscle mass is aruond the upper forearm... in anatomy class, I have seen that 1/4- 1/2 down the arm (starting from elbow), there is pretty much no more muscle, it's mainly tendon for your wrist and fingers. wrist curls wuold be fine, also try keeping your elbows steady and twist and turn your arm (supinating/pronating).

If you go on a bulking diet without a serious training program to go along with it, you can bet that weight will end up around your waist.
