Drink lots and lots of water. That will help.

I have drunk (drank) about a little over a gallon of water a day since Feb. 6th.

I've been working out for 7 weeks now and so far I lost 12 lbs. I had a weight loss goal of 15 and I am surprised that I went this far already. My abs are almost to point where I was when I was in college.

I cut out all junk food and soda. Drink lots of water. I cut my portions down, now I don't over eat. If I am hungry, I will eat, but just a little.

I've also been lifting weights and started supplementing with 90 grams of protein a day in week 3. I am pretty sure that I am building some mass, so that is why my weight loss has slowed down a bit.

Ok well I ended up losing roughly 18 pounds before I went on the spring break trip. Not too bad. Now after I get under 200 pounds I plan on bulking up my muscles and working out 3 or 4 times a week.

i am a huge noob to all this. I have been an athlete my entire life, so i have never had to lose weight, but don't you need to do over 30 minutes of cardio type exercising to lose weight. Isn't anything between 20 and 30 just maintaining weight.

I know there are like 200 other factors here, but this is just a general thing i was wondering?

For someone who's already athletic, sure, that's reasonable.

For someone who's kind of fat and doesn't exercise at all, 20-30 minutes of cardio will tell fat to GTFO.

It all depends on where you're starting at.

Yes, cardio is important. But diet is critical. In cutting, you must reduce carbs, and make sure the carbs you take in are good(complex) carbs.

Complex carbs(AKA "good" carbs) are:

oatmeal
brown rice
lentils
sweet potato
whole wheat pasta

Avoid simple carbs(AKA "bad" carbs) such as:

white potato
foods containing white flour
white rice
foods containg sugar
supplements containing maltodextrose

Do not snack. Try to eat small complete meals every 2-3 hours. No carbs, except veggies, after 6 PM.
