i have a bet with a co-worker and he has to lose 32 lbs in a week. is it possible? he said in his prime he weighed 185 so the rest is fat. if he loses, which i think he will, i come up 3 bills.
Uh... no. Let's say that, in his prime, he weighed 185, so that was at... let's say 10% bodyfat (abs will be roughly visible at 10%). That's 18.5lbs of fat plus 32lbs of (mostly) fat, which brings it to 50.5lbs of fat. I don't think the guy has the metabolism to pull off a 32lb weight loss. Doing that would involve the use of some serious drugs including diuretics.
If he WAS able to lose 32lbs in a week...he's probably be close to death...cause doing it the right way...like watching what you eat and exercising...I would guess maybe 2-5 lbs max...but doing anything possible would be extremely bad and would probably do serious damage to his body and organs...
I once lost 20lbs in a week. That was because I had spent all of money on bourbon, and didn't realize I still had a week left before my next pay day. I lived off of water and frozen popsicles all week.
Professional fighters "cut weight" by sweating themselves out and reducing the amount of water in their body. I doubt it's healthy, but they can cut a lot of water in a short period of time.
But.. with a weight in the low 200's which I'm guessing he's at, I doubt it's possible. If he was 300-350 pounds and extremely motivated, then YES ofcourse I think it could be done. I don't know how safely though.
When I wrestled I would drop 8 lbs in practice. and 3 lbs in my sleep. However I would eat and drink enough to keep it on. The most I ever lost in a week and keapt off was going from 235 to 215. That with over 8 hours a day in the gym.
