I tried to gas up my 2005 Civic but the door won't open. I pressed the lever at the gas station and felt the click like normal, but the fuel door never opened. I tried plying the door open with a credit card while my friend is pressing the lever but no good. The latch doesn't seem to give. But now when I press the level nothing happens, I hear or feel the normal "click". Damn, is there a emergency release for the fuel door on a civic? I checked inside the trunk but did not find anything. Help, I really low on gas too.

Thanks gearbox, I managed to get the door opened now. The car is still under warranty, I'm bringing it back to the dealership to get this fixed.

same happened to me, it must be a faulty thing cuz i know it has happened to alot, and there is always that stupid ad for the fix lol so it must be bad. I had to bring it in 4 times before the finally fixed it properly, make sure you request they replace the WHOLE SYSTEM because everytime they gave it back within a few fills up it screwed up again. If you havnt figured it out, reach in on the side of the gas cap behind the trunk carpeting and twist the **** at the end of the wire until it comes out, much like you switch a headligh bulb, it will open.

the problem with fixing the whole system is, youre back to the beginning and its only a matter of time before the same thing happens. they dont have a new stronger cable, its the same spec as the one you had before.

Well, not 100% of the whole system is defective otherwise Honda would have issued a recall. You might get lucky and get a good one. If not, then spend 20 some bux for the fueldoorfix.com product.
