California Props

The results are in........

aaaahhhh......*deep breath*

why is everyone so stupid?

Prop s just passed in california with i believe 67% of the vote WTF?!?

if your not familair with prop s.....i'll bring you up to date. Prop 218 was passed to inform taxpayers of new taxes. The government was taxing us 10% on all bills involving communications(mainly phone bills). This relatively new tax was not made aware to the taxpayers; hence, it is an illegal tax. Eventually, the public becomes aware and demands action. Do we get the money back? NO......instead the tricky sob politicians put prop s on the ballot. The official title of the prop is "Reduction of Tax Rate and Modernization of Communications Users Tax". The title would make the voters assume that they are voting for a deduction in taxes. However, by voting they are making this once "unknown" tax "known". The description of prop s stated that there would be a deduction of tax from 10% to 9%. In reality, if prop s did not pass then the 10% tax would be eliminated but of course, prop s passed so basically we voted ourselves more taxes. god bless america. But here's the best part, not only did we vote for another tax, but by passing prop s, we now have given the politicians the ability to tax us for ALL COMMUNICATIONS.
such as phone bills, CELL PHONE BILLS ( as if they aren't high enough), and eventually they will be able to tax us on our internet bills. can i hear an amen?

The politicians were endorsing prop s because they have pushed our state 14 billion dollars in debt and prop s would help raise funds to crush this deficit. Well then, my question is: Who put us 14 billion dollars in the hole? and you expect ME to give YOU more money? kiss my ass. They never have mentioned cutting costs or attempting to make the governmental bureaucracy more efficient. The X-inefficiency of the government is astronomical! Instead of any logical solutions to PREVENTING and fixing our current tiny problem...........of 14 billion in the red. They're solution is to throw more money at the problem. Damnit

what happened to americans? Nearly 220 years ago, we were throwing tea into boston harbor because the brits were going to tax us a quarter of a percent on tea. And now we take this lying down? im about ready to grab my gun and head for the nearest government building and demand change. But since i know i couldn't count on many others to do the same i would end up in jail or worse.(that and the nearest government building is a police station ) We used to have so much fight in us......we wouldn't stand for this in the past. The whole purpose and design of a government is to serve the people. And when a government fails it is the people's responsibility to dismantle the old and replace it with something better. wow...i just read what i wrote.....thats pretty damn radical. Basically im pissed about the voting results and needed to bitch. What happened to california?......social programs? this used to be reagan country........i could go on about all this with all the other props but i don't have all day.

Re: California Props

I hear ya man... Politics are fucked up. I dont vote, and I'm not ashamed of it. If mf'ers wanna battle it out, go ahead. I know it'll affect me, but at least I wont be all worked up so that when I have to bend over I can take it quicker then everyone else and get on with my fucking day.

Being an 5th year accounting major, I've read into the tax laws probably more then I should of and I've found some fucked up things. Something everyone should be more concerned about is the AMT tax, but how many ppl can truly say they have even heard of it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_Minimum_Tax

Not only are most of your deductions taken away (you know those cuts you get for donating crap to ppl who need it, and for having an econ friend car, or being a home owner, having kids...), but you get one standard deduction only and are forced into smaller tax brackets that are much higher then what some would pay without it. Okay, doesn’t sound too bad huh? Well being that the AMT was orig for tax payers that were too aggressive with deductions they had set an income level saying that the rich ppl had to pay this tax instead of the regular tax... but they didnt index it for inflation, so come ten years from now, anyone not making pennies in the field is going to have to pay this tax and lose all of their deductions. Kiss the system we love to hate goodbye. Congress wont change this because it gives them billions in extra revenue every year- and congress just wouldnt be congress if they passed laws that limited their revenue streams.

We gotta fight between the brothers and the bitches for presidency, movie stars representing states, and criminals running our country. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind seeing someone besides a white male representing our country. From what I’ve seen, Obama can talk just as much BS as Bush, and I don’t know how Hillary would do being in the same office that Bill did the dirty in. Something about this whole deal just makes me wanna move to the equator and sip coronas with Latifah.

Re: California Props

haha its almost laughable how we keep finding ourselves at the mercy of the gov

thx triz i wasn't even aware of the AMT.........that law is definitely gonna bite me in the ass in about 10 years

"Over the coming decade, a growing number of taxpayers will become liable for the AMT. In 2010, if nothing is changed, one in five taxpayers will have AMT liability and nearly every married taxpayer with income between $100,000 and $500,000 will owe the alternative tax. Rather than affecting only high-income taxpayers who would otherwise pay no tax, the AMT has extended its reach to many upper-middle-income households. As an increasing number of taxpayers incur the AMT, pressures to reduce or eliminate the tax are likely to grow."

It seems like more and more everyday they are finding new ways to punish the middle class.........it used to be a good thing to be the middle class.

The household market in southern california is in the shitter too......the foreclosure rate jumped some 800% because companies like countrywide and such were giving out adjustable mortgage rates to be people who couldn't afford the future adjusted rates. People never read the fine print. i believe eventually the county will begin buying some of the foreclosed properties from the banks and begin building apartments. They're trying to take away all the houses and make the san fernando valley vertical with apartment buildings.
