WTF is up with all these Constitutional Amendments?

First the gay marriage one and now the flag burning amendment? WTF are these waterheads thinking? Constitutional amendments are not jokes! They are not meant to ban every nit-picky thing you do not like.

Quit wasting your time and our money and get to work on important shit. Who's with me?

+1 I am with you.Why is it always an amendment to take a right/freedom away? If our forefathers knew it would someday be possible to check our blood/hair or urine for chemicals I am sure they would have constitutional protection but like I said they only amend to take away not give protection.

yeah...i was wondering the same thing. next thing you know theyre gonna ban alcohol again. lol

i think they just want to look like theyre doing something without actually doing anything. i am hoping that there are enough intelligent people in the gov't to make sure none of these ammendments actually pass, although the flag burning one was a close call.

this isnt really a gov't anymore, from the looks of it. its more like a popularity contest. officials get elected based on image rather than merit or accomplishments; theres an awful lot of talk and no action, and the talk is about really irrelevant and insignificant "issues" as far as the big picture of the nation is concerned. its rediculous.

Government and intelligent? That's an oxymoron. All the shit they have now is just a smoke screen to get conservative America back to the right. Both the Flag burning and the gay marriage (49 votes, needed 60) were close. It is all bullshit!

Didn't you learn anything from HS? All of politics is a popularity contest.

And it's rIdiculous with an I, not an E

You couldn't be more right.

Why do you think that communist Hillary Clinton, of all people, wrote and sponsored an amendment against flag burning? It's to try to get people on her side. Because it's a logical move, most of america is in favor of it.... and it means absolutely nothing. In these times of absolute corruption and philandering politicians, government overspending, abuses of power, war, tension, terrorism, hostilities.... the last thing we need to worry about is a stupid flag burning amendment. Yet she wrote it up, knowing it was going to fail, simply because she is preparing to launch off into a presidential race, and she knows that she has left wing america locked up, she wants to make right wing america think that she is moderate or maybe even patriotic.

Or the whole gay marriage thing, it was so that congressmen could make their constituents think that they are actually conservative, not the liberals they actually are. Abortion was an issue that was used in the past. It's throwing a bone to the people that elected them so that they get reelected, while they vote against every other issue that their voters want.

Reform, for instance.

Everyone TALKS about reform, how we need to reform congress and government. When it comes down to it, no one wants to start with themselves.

Politicians are a dirty, filthy, lying lot.

I totally agree, but it begs the question: what issues are significant?

how about the economy? how about education? how about gov't reform? what about an actual plan of action to end the war in iraq? or making sure no other wars break out with a country that actually has a nuclear weapon? how about an actual international policy that doesn't make america look like fools? healthcare reform? how about the fact that the idiot president is appointing absolutely unqualified people for serious gov't positions and no one can do a thing about it?

there are PLENTY of issues that are much more significant than what they are wasting time on.
