| What option should the government take? I would like it if this could become a poll 1) Tax breaks for any company and employee that offers and takes 4-10's(work 4-10 hour days a week) or 9-9's(work 8-9hour days then 1 8 hour day with every other friday off).
-If every company went to this and staggered the 3rd day traffic would be 10%-20% lighter.
-More time with your family
-Save 1/5 of your mandatory fuel cost each week
-Everyone has a chance to participate from the most poor to the most rich.
-Extra money going back in to the economy with an extra day off to spend it.
-For those of you that are late once a week maybe your day off is that day?
-8 hours of work already feels like enough 2) Tax breaks to those that live within 5 miles of where they work.
-It would cut back on urban sprawl by making urban areas more attractive.
-It would cost atleast a new deposit + application fee for everyone to move.
-It would cut down on traffic.
-Some of us may live close enough to ride a "bicycle" 3) Tax the oil companies
-They would pass it down to us
-It would hurt everyone and big oil would still be rich 4) Release oil from the national reserves.
-This may drop the price by 3 cents for a week
-Our president keeps threatening to Nuke Iran maybe we should keep our reserves full 5) Subsidize electric/hybrid vehicles to make them the same price as internal combustion vehicles.
-It would make these vehicles worth owning(you wouldnt need to drive it for 125k miles b4 the gas savings kick in)
-They are already cheaper than a Tahoe and they sale a lot more Tahoes and explorers than hybrids
-Poor people would need to buy a new car to feel the benifit
Personally I like tax breaks. 401(k)s, and IRA'a are popular because of tax breaks. I know at least 3 couples that bought houses because of "tax breaks alone" Plus I am an ashamed Republican.
